ABOUT PBESL

The Play-By-Email Soccer League (PBESL) was founded by Craig Pritchard in February 2003. The league aims to bring in the best competition from around the world, as well as obtaining maximum enjoyment from participating.

Matches are played simultaneously, not in real time. This is done by a program called ESMS (Email Soccer Management Simulation). A match with the ESMS engine requires a manager to submit a team sheet to the administrator. This team sheet is created in a special format, and the manager must pick 11 players from his roster, along with another 5 players substitutes. Explanations of how to read a roster file is displayed here. Explanations of how to fill out a team sheet is displayed here.

It is highly encouraged to become heavily involved in group discussions and the running of their clubs. This may take no longer than two hours of your time a week, or perhaps more. However, the more people immerse themselves into this league, the more enjoyable it will be for everyone.
